What To Do:

Welcome to the Abundance Prayer, the prayer that makes our lives abundant, more and more abundant. We begin by sitting upright, head erect, feet flat on the floor.  Elbows by our sides, we point our fingers out to the sides. The left hand represents the negative beliefs of the past: I’m not good enough, it’s hard, I can’t. The right hand represents the negative feelings we have the about the future: fear, worry and anxiety.

These negatives are our far country, the same far country where the prodigal son found himself. Like him we waste our resources. We waste our awareness, our time and our life. As the prodigal came to his senses, we also need to waken up, aware that we have a choice, that we can return from our far country, the negative world to the Father’s house, the place of abundance which is our home.

So we move our hands towards each other, towards home, into the present, the now, where God, our Father, is waiting to welcome us with a love greater than we could ever imagine. With hands joined we use this energy.

With the back of the left hand we push out ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘it’s hard’, ‘I can’t’. With the back of the right hand we push out fear, worry and anxiety. As we push out, we’re creating sacred space to enter into a deep and intimate relationship with the loving God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Space also to receive life in abundance from the generous God.

We feel wonder and gratitude as we bring our hands down, resting them on our lap, palms facing each other directly. We relax our fingers, we drop our thumbs, we close our eyes gently if that is comfortable. We stay very still and focused.

We picture the radiant light of Jesus, brighter than the sun, surrounding us and filling us. We relax into this heavenly light, protecting us and healing us. We feel the loving energy of Jesus flowing through our body, our mind and our feelings. As it flows, it heals us deeply, heals us at the core of our being.

We listen to Jesus in the intimacy of our heart as he tells us in the words of Isaiah: ‘I have called you by name, you are mine, you are precious to me and I love you.’ We allow these words to touch us deeply: ‘I have called you by name, you are mine, you are precious to me and I love you.’

Feeling deep wonder and gratitude we pray: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore you, I love you, I thank you, for the wonder of my being and the miracle of your presence in me.

We hold any people or problems we worry about in our sacred space, picturing the radiant light of Jesus surrounding them and filling them. We feel his loving energy flowing freely from our heart, down through our arms and out through our hands to them.  We feel comfort and peace as we surrender all our worries and troubles into the loving care of Jesus in our sacred space.

We hold those we love, and anyone else we want to pray for, in our sacred space, picturing the radiant light of Jesus surrounding them and filling them. We feel his energy of love flowing from our hands to all these people. We feel deep wonder and gratitude at the miracle of Jesus present in their lives. We pray: we thank you, Lord, for the wonder of their being, and the miracle of your presence in them.

We hold in our sacred space anyone we find difficult, anyone who has hurt us or anyone we have difficulty in forgiving. We picture the radiant light of Jesus surrounding them and filling them. We feel his energy of love flowing freely from our heart out through our hands to them.

As we allow the love to flow we are set free from any power these people may have over us, set free from any fear, anger or resentment. As we allow the love to flow we are giving a great gift to these people, but a much greater gift to ourselves. We are set free to be ourselves.

So we let go, allowing Jesus in us to transform all these negative feelings into the gold of divine love and peace. Feeling deep wonder and gratitude we pray: we thank you, Lord, for the wonder of their being, and the miracle of your presence in them.

Holding the planet earth in our sacred space we surround it and fill it with the radiant light of Jesus. We feel his loving energy flowing freely from our heart out through our hands to everyone and everything, to all the great needs of the world, all the poverty and hunger, all the injustice and oppression, all the wars and their terrible consequences.  All the sickness, grief and suffering.

As we pray the Abundance Prayer we become one with Jesus in us in his great compassion for the world and in his great prayer for the world. What a gift, what a privilege. Let us feel inspired, deeply inspired. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we adore you, we love you, we thank you, for the wonder of their being and the miracle of your presence in them.

We can pray like this at any time for a few moments or longer, especially first thing in the morning, last thing at night, as a preparation for our own prayer, and whenever we notice a negative or a need. All we need to do is to create the sacred space and allow the love to flow, allow Jesus in us to take over.
