The ObjectiveMuch
of our lives are lived out of the past, dictated by negative beliefs
and attitudes: I’m not good enough, this is hard, that’s hard, I
can’t do this, I can’t do that. We
also have a profound belief in scarcity.
Everything in fact is scarce, especially what we need most:
love, trust and peace. The
negatives we carry from the past create a future of fear, worry and
anxiety. The result is
that we may spend little time in the present and it is only in the
present that we can encounter God and God’s abundance. Christ
came into our world of scarcity and negativity proclaiming abundance.
‘I came,’ he said, ‘that you may have life and have it in
abundance.’ Our most urgent requirement is to leave aside the negative past and negative future, allowing ourselves to live in the present, entering into relationship with Christ and his abundance. In other words, we need to create sacred space for a new and transformed life. The Abundance Prayer is a method of creating this sacred space. We
can set ourselves free from the prison of negativity by using God's
gift of freedom, choosing to take our energy, our attention, away from
these negatives, gathering it into the present moment where an utterly
transformed life is available.
